I always keep a watchful eye as I drove home along the local lanes. There are at least 2 sets of Fox cubs that seem to have no fear of the road. At least 3 have been killed this year so far. I saw this youngster sitting by the side of the road, so I pulled over and stopped. Rather than walk straight across he decided to sit in the middle of the road posing. Sadly the light was very poor and the images, although full frame, are very noisy (should have used the D3!!)

An early start
With good weather forecast for this morning I decided that an early start was needed. I wanted to get shots of Banded Demoiselle before the day warmed up and while they were settled. A quick call to Brett lewis confirmed that he would be up and about too, and so a 5am start was made. It seems that I could have had a few more hours in bed as there was not a Demoiselle to be seen. Still, we managed a few shots of what was on offer... Dameslflys...
I finished the day with a few shots of Skipper Butterflies.
After a few hours by the stream I then moved on to try my luck with the Spotted Flycatchers that were nearby.

New life
An early start this morning was not early enough! This newly emerged Emperor Dragonfly was on the wing and gone within a couple of minutes from getting these shots.
Seems to be lots of Little Owls around this year, unfortunately this guy would not venture out into the open.
